There are many supplements that you could take that help to reduce inflammation. I have chosen three to discuss in this article.

Most chronic diseases are rooted in high levels of inflammation. If we were to pay more attention to reducing inflammation in our bodies, we we see the rate of chronic disease decrease significantly.

I have another blog post explaining what inflammation is and several of the diseases that are associated with high inflammation. You can read that post here.

The first supplement that I would recommend for reducing inflammation is Fish Oil. Fish oil lowers the body’s production of pro-inflammatory biochemical, including the ones targeted by most NSAIDs – cyclooxygenase (COX1 and COX2). Fish Oil, also, lowers levels of inflammatory interleukins. I suggest that you get a good quality Fish Oil. Most brands you find will be of poor quality and contain toxins.

The second supplement that is great for reducing inflammation is Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is actually a steroid hormone. It helps to modulate the immune system and reduces inflammation throughout the body.

The third supplement that I recommend for reducing inflammation in the body is Resveratrol. Resveratrol is found in red wine. However, you would have to drink about  11 liters of red wine to get beneficial levels to lower inflammation in the body. Therefore, it is best to find a high quality Resveratrol supplement.

I recommend contacting a Functional Medicine practitioner, such as myself, to get proper therapeutic dosages for your specific case.

If you are looking for a dietary program that will reduce inflammation in your body, I have a few programs that can help you. I, also, work with patients one-on-one. If you would like a free consultation to discuss your health problems and to see if Functional Medicine may be a good option for you, you can get information here.
